If you like, the rear seat passengers can come equipped with the Rear Comfort Package and, believe-you-me, the reclining seats, heated seats, blinds and cup holders make the journey a very laid back affair. The optional ELEGANCE package provides a very high level of refinement. Exterior features include chrome highlights, while the pleasant interior has a tasteful array of fine trim and wood inlays. The optional AVANTGARDE package has more of a sporty flavour, and the exterior is very striking. Gorgeous dark red leather upholstery surrounded in black trimmings is the reason you feel so much like royalty. The optional EXCLUSIVE package hints in the name as to why this is the top choice for luxury.

I commented on the transmission being silky and smooth. Two options are available. Slick changing between gears is easy with the six-speed manual option. Automatic gear changes are completed via a best-in class-7 G-Tronic Plus gearbox. The crisp E-Class engine performance and accurate gear selection is hard to beat.

Petrol Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estates are quiet, smooth performers. Highway cruising is exceptionally satisfying, while the brute force performance of the 63 AMG Estate is out of this world.
