The TRD Aurion is the world’s first production car to be fitted with a four-lobe Eaton TVS supercharger. Because the supercharger is an air pump driven by the engine’s crankshaft, it spins independently of the engine’s throttle position, standing by to deliver instantaneous boost on demand. Toyota boast that this level of performance also links hands with an average fuel consumption of just 10.9 litres/100 km. Fast turns through tight bends are tackled in a very level and balanced manner. The chassis is simply sensational.

Inside the cosseting interior, there is plenty of space for five beefy front rowers. Leg room is delightfully impressive, and once you open the boot lid you will be amazed at the capability this machine has for the big trips away with the family out of town. Inside the elegant interior are plenty of high-end luxury items. The infotainment system performs very well. The sat-nav is very accurate while the iPod adaptor runs very hot with muso buffs like me. The 6 disc in-dash CD changer with MP3/WMA compatibility isn’t the only thing that will impress the car’s occupants. The eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, and six-way power adjustable passenger seat in 3500SL go along way to adding the icing on the cake to what is truly a very luxurious interior for a car offering such potent performance on the road. The Smart Entry and Start System on the TRD Aurion 3500SL, and the SL’s dual zone climate control air conditioning with an optional DVD Satellite Navigation with Bluetooth compatibility are “classy as”.
