Modern designs from Audi are blessed with monumental success. Curvaceous lines, sporty muscle and elegant grace are all captions that could be used to describe the latest beauty in Audi’s A5 line-up.

Racing down the coastline in an Audi A5 Cabriolet… Wind in the hair; sun on the skin and the promise of a breathtaking adventure are stuff that makes a nice dream. But with the topless Audi A5, dreams become a reality and driving pleasure is at the top of its game. You better be ready for this review, because the Audi A5 Cabriolet is an exciting machine that performs as well as the way it looks.
Kerbside, there are few cars that can capture attention as much as a good looking open top tourer. The Audi A5 Cabriolet is one of these cars. From smiling old gentleman leaning over the fence to glossy blondes full of life, all will appreciate that something special that the Audi A5 Cabriolet has in its design. Starting at the front, the car is both low and wide. The A5 nose boasts a curvy front air dam, body colour bumper and sleek headlights that are not only very elegant but provide an aggressive streak to the Audi A5 cabriolet. Flared wheel arches, chrome mirrors and detailing, and a sexy bodyline crease running along the side of the vehicle completes a sporty note to the side on view. Towards the back of the A5 cabriolet, it is noticeable how well the folded away roof is kept well hidden away from view in one of the neatest open top designs I have seen. Chrome even finishes off the lip around the top of the doors. Tasteful alloys and twin exhausts finish the A5 Cabriolet off superbly. And, you can even enjoy a quick peek with her top down into what is arguably one of the nicest automotive interiors.
Open the door, slip inside and it is instantly evident at how plush and comfortable the Audi A5 Cabriolet cabin is. Not only is the finest leather and interior trim used, but the design team can rightly be proud of the excellent craftsmanship, tasteful textures and soft colours used inside the Audi A5 Cabriolet. The seats are so very comfortable and supportive and, with the long overall length of the A5 body, interior room is fantastic.
Blessed with good looks and excellent build quality, it is no surprise to find that the Audi A5 Cabriolet has the very best features inside. Even with the top down, an intelligent automatic air conditioning system notes the preset temperature both when the hood is open and closed so that the temperature around the A5 Cabriolet occupants is kept precisely how you want it. Reprogramming occurs automatically each time the roof is operated. The classic soft top takes around 15 seconds for the fully automatic hood to open up. It takes about the same time to close, and the hood can be operated while the car is on the move at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Don’t worry about the effects of the sun. Audi’s leather seats have a special colour pigmentation that prevents the leather from strong sunlight.
Cruising the motorway in an open top car is one of the nicest experiences you can enjoy. Birds and cicadas can be heard while driving. Sun and warmth on the skin can be enjoyed by all the occupants. And if you like to add another dimension of sound, the Audi A5 Cabriolet has a premium entertainment system that has a whopping 505 watts of sound wave power. Twelve speakers ensure that the nicest musical subtleties can be heard.
An Audi A5 Cabriolet has the ability to be delightfully docile in heavy traffic, and yet be shatteringly fast if persuaded. Smooth engines make for a refined and quiet journey. Three engines are offered: a 2.0 TFSI quattro S tronic version, a 3.0 TDI quattro S tronic version and a 3.2 FSI quattro S tronic version all of which are superbly exciting. Expect 0-100 km/h times of around six seconds for the two big engines. Equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the slick gear changes are extremely fast.
Handling is limpet like, and the steering is light and responsive. Boasting AWD, the Audi A5 feels very surely footed.
I wish every car was equipped with an adaptive cruise control system. The Audi A5 Cabriolet can boast this feature which uses a radar sensor to detect other vehicles ahead of you in order to maintain a safe distance by automatically applying the brakes and accelerating when its safe to do so.
If you are looking to buy a premium open top car, the Audi A5 Cabriolet has to be the finest available. The complete driving experience makes the Audi A5 Cabriolet a sensational drive. You want to drive this vehicle because it is so good.

- Audi A5 Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI quattro S tronic
