Audi have long been making exemplary motor cars for some time now. The all new Audi S3 Sportback is incredibly well built and boasts an aggressive sporty profile.

Some of the new technologies on board the stunning S3 are leading edge. Daytime running lights are standard features, and the optional bi-xenon headlamps incorporate LEDs. Down the sides of the motorcar, the highlight features are exterior mirrors with integral turn indicators, new door handles and attractive wheels. The S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi’s magnetic ride (which boasts a suspension control system) are some of the high-tech goodies included in the S3 package. Additional equipment features, such as the Audi parking system and the reversible load-liner add to the appeal of the small high performance German machine.

Inside the car, there is an atmosphere of elegance that has a touch of sporty flavour too. The S3 upholstery range even includes Fine Nappa leather for the sport seats. Audi exclusive bucket seats are available as an option. Aluminum pedals, three different styles of inlay and a black or silver headlining create an exclusively sporty look. Deluxe automatic air conditioning, an anti-theft alarm and xenon plus headlamps with LED daytime running light extend the range of high-end standard features. The aluminum touches around the cabin are accentuated on the air vents, light switches and the center console. I like the mix and I think Audi have got the look and the tactile touches spot on. The instruments have black dials and red needles to add to the S3 sportiness. There is a very high-tech onboard computer system that displays an array of important information for the driver. This really adds to the incredible driving experience one has in the Audi S3. The seats are comfortable and highly supportive, and Audi can supply the options of roof rails and a panoramic sunroof for the versatile S3 package.

The Audi S3 develops a wonderfully quick response with seemingly endless amounts of power and refinement. The 188 kW engine rapidly gains velocity, and the acceleration time is summed up in the 0-100 km/h dash being performed in just 5.8 seconds. Thanks to the turbocharger, an impressive 330 Nm of torque is available over a wide band of engine revs – from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. The result is breathtaking acceleration and instantaneous response. Pushed hard on the twisty stuff, the Audi S3 has a commanding hold on the road ahead. The six-speed manual transmission handles the business of getting the power from the engine through to the quattro driveline at lightening speed. The 18-inch wheels provide a firm grip, while the sport suspension holds the lowly slung body taut and in control. Big black brake calipers act on large 17-inch disk brakes. The car is a delight to drive. The S3 reacts spontaneously to steering movements, while the handling remains stable and precise in extreme cornering. The pace in the corners enables the driver to start accelerating again at the earliest possible moment. Needless to say, the S3 covers the ground fast!

The superb fit and finish sets the foundation for the S3’s impeccable safety prowess. The passenger compartment held its shape well in crash testing, while the vehicle scored very highly in the side impact crash testing.
